Unique Hand-Sewn Silk Pocket Squares Made in England
The Lord's Taverners' Pocket Square Collection
Otway & Orford are delighted to collaborate with the Lord's Taverners cricket charity to celebrate their 75th Anniversary. The result is two unique designs available as high-quality silk pocket squares. They are designed to look stylish and to help fundraise in support of the valuable work of the Taverners. The pocket squares are being sold on a pre-order basis and pocket squares paid for during the pre-order period will be delivered in mid June. Otway & Orford will donate 50% of net proceeds from sales on www.OtwayOrford.co.uk to the Lord's Taverners.
The pocket squares are Made in England and finished by hand-rolling and hand-sewing the edges to create the distinctive 'shoestring' hem. The pocket squares can be worn in a top pocket by both gentlemen and ladies, with ladies having the added option to wear them in their hair or have one cascading from a bag. One design features a dynamic cricket painting by artist Helen Cooper, who has generously donated the use of her work for the 75th Anniversary fundraising campaign. The other features a striking contemporary stripe design, which draws on the iconic colours of the Lord's Taverners.

The Otway & Orford brand was inspired by the founder's grandfather, the captain of several high-profile and glamorous ocean liners during the 1920s & 1930s and also a dedicated pocket square wearer. Thanks to Captain Owens RD RNR there is a strong cricket connection for the brand, as he brought the Australian Ashes party to England in 1934 on the 'Orford' liner and took the MCC Ashes party to Australia in 1936 on the 'Orion'. Captain Owens hosted a garden party for the Australians during the 1934 series at his home in London and the father of Otway & Orford's founder was lucky enough to play cricket on the lawn with some of the players, including Donald Bradman.
